Your fave Composers Empty
PostSubject: Your fave Composers   Your fave Composers Empty27/08/12, 12:47 am

Now personally I'm a massive fan of just about any composer or video game music from any era from multiple Genres and games. However I want to name 2 of my personal faves for various reasons.

Yuzo Koshiro.

Many credit him for Streets of Rage & Actraiser. But that's not even near his best work. He did the music for Ys I & II and still IMO to this day one of the best OST in gaming history. He has also done work for Shenmue. Another great soundtrack. His talent knows no bounds. He can do more orchestra or rocking out. One of the best composers around.

Noriyuki Iwadare

This guy has a long rep. He also did Ys but Ys III also a amazing OST. He is best known for his work on Lunar series. My personal fave of his is Grandia series. Esp 1-2. From the dramatic and truly epic theme to the softer tones and upbeat tunes. The soundtrack for Grandia 1-2 makes you feel like on a grand adventure. He earned more kudos points with me when the creator of Grandia sadly passed away so I made a tribute video that very day. Idaware took notice and passed the video to his colleagues. Also wished me a Happy Birthday this year. The man is pure class.

I want to name more esp some more well known ones but I best leave it open for others.

Yuka Tsujiyoko

She kicks ass, major ass. Perhaps one of the lesser known female RPG composers she's responsible for a number of incredibly memorable tracks like "Together we Ride" from Fire Emblem she was also at the helm for Paper Mario and Panel de Pon.

I used to loooove this site: http://www.rpgamer.com/news/Q1-2001/012301d.html

Anyhow, all the Shenmue composers wrote beautiful stuff for the game. Besides the game composers you've mentioned so far, Lennie Moore's music for the old PC game Outcast was incredible. Final Fantasy Adventure composer Kenji Ito, all the Kemco games on the NES, like Shadowgate, uninvited, etc. have brilliant scores. One uncredited composer for Shadowgate was Hiroyuki Masuno, but there were many working for the company, and there's little information on who did what. Also, Michiru Yamane of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night fame, and Castlevania 64 composer Masahiko Kimura.

Other composers related to games, like in the anime world, would certainly include Yoko Kanno and Joe Hisaishi.

Some others:

(Sonic 2)
Masato Nakamura

(NiGHTS Into Dreams)
Naofumi Hataya
Tomoko Sasaki
Fumie Kumatani

(Panzer Dragoon)
Yoshitaka Azuma

(Thief: The Dark Project)
Eric Brosius

Nobuo Uematsu I think is a shame he will only be remembered by gamers and not the world. IMO he belongs with names like Bach,Mozart, Beethoven and more. He is the greatest composer this world has seen in generations. I say this objectively. While I love so much of his work, I can honestly say every single piece he has done which there is hundreds if not thousands is a masterpiece in some fashion or another. I don't know of any music mastermind in the history books that has as many as he has.

Can you link me to a couple of his best or your favorites? My knowledge of his stuff is very superficial. As someone who has never played a Final Fantasy game all the way through I don't know much beyond One Winged Angel and stuff like that. Your write up has inspired me to try and delve deeper. Help a brother out with a starting point.

Thanks for links! Listening to Toberu mono now. I like the singer. Her voice is really plain, but in a good way. Maybe pure would be a better word. Reminds me of the singer who did the ending theme from Spirited Away. Nice stuff. Got a lot more listening to do Cool

Pure and innocent and hopeful. As it fits thegame. The music really ties with the game itself. Not just an OST. Another reason I jut love The Last Story.
